  • 4/11/2017: After a judicial battle, the city of Jackson, Michigan passed a non-discrimination ordinance protecting LGBTQ+ individuals from discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodation.[1]
  • In the aftermath of the implementation of the Muslim Ban, Republican Representative Justin Amash spoke out against the action, pointing out that the action is unconstitutional. He is one of the few elected Republican officials who has spoken out on this subject.[2]
  • The State of Michigan has agreed to spend $87 million to replace thousands of lead pipes throughout Flint over the next three years as part of a lawsuit settlement brought up last year by a coalition of Flint residents and national groups. [3]
